are you curious about my housemates? i’ll blog about one of them today. :)
ES was from ntu business, same year as me. to me, he’s the less likeable of the two.
For one, he is ULTRA-talkative. he can go on and on about his opinions and views on things, and people. whatever the topic, he has something to say. what “from a HR viewpoint...”, "frankly speaking, let me tell you la...”, “from my experience”, “in all the places i’ve been to...”, “i tell you la, this is nothing compared to what i’ve seen...” etc. very overbearing, very irritating. and he enjoys making small talks to fill the silence, but the catch is that his small talks and jokes ain’t ever funny. i patronized him a bit initially, but i soon learn that that will only encourage him to go on some more. when he told me his MBTI score for extraversion is 32/40, i thought something must be wrong, he should have scored 41 or something.
my impression of him wouldn’t have been so terrible if he was only plain irritating. the thing is, he’s very political. hiyo, very terrible… the 3 of us were going through the details of the flat before we came to shanghai. since MW (the other guy) spent considerable efforts and got the flat through his contacts in shanghai, he requested for the master bedroom. ok, fine with me, i was grateful i have a place to stay, and anyway, we were already free- riding on MW’s efforts. i thought everything was settled, until ES called me and said things like “don’t you think he went overboard to monopolize the big room?“, “maybe he has some hidden agenda”, “he so inconsiderate… i think you should have the master bedroom instead…” etc.
woah! scary leh, must be wary of this kind of person, who knows what he tells MW about me behind my back? tsk tsk, i thought coming to a foreign place, the least we can do is to at least try make the whole stay pleasant. and there he was, telling me bad things about someone whom both of us were free- riding on. and i didn’t even know them then.
this is not good at all.
