next up…
MW is my other housemate. this one is actually quite ok lah… ‘cept, you know, there are some people whom you just cannot clique with. MW is academically very smart. on one of the rare occasions when i chatted with him, he told me his GPA is about 3.8! gross…! that’s about full As with a very occasional B… woah!
wahaha, like most people on dean’s list, MW’s pretty proud about his brains. and from the way he always pass these comments- “wah liao, this person stupid one!” , “this person has no brains man!”, “aiyah, a lot of people here very stupid one lah.” you know he knows he’s smart. no problem with that, except that he probably thinks the rest of the world, me included, belongs to a lower class because we don’t have brains as big.
really cannot clique with him because we have nothing in common at all. i remember on the way back from our first day at the office, i was commenting on how all the secretaries have F4 (yes, the 4 supposedly cute guys) posters and screensavers in their computers.
MW: huh? i dunno what they (F4) look like.
me: you go office see la, their faces all over the place.
MW: i can’t be bothered. you think you know this kind of things can be successful meh?
me: ok, define success.
MW: *incredulous, you-are-stupid look*
well, i’m not exactly bothered by him. the good thing about him is he doesn’t try to impose his views on me. i mean, sometimes he will tell me how to behave to impress bosses and everything, but in general, he just doesn’t care too much how or what you do, as long as you don’t bother him. and i think he also think i’m a xiao mei mei who probably won’t cross paths with him much in the future, know what i mean? like he often lunches with his bosses, and he once said he’ll never lunch with the secretaries because talk to them “got no use”.
one thing about him is he really loves his girlfriend. seldom see this kind of guys around, so i guess it can be considered a virtue in that sense. his girlfriend is very very smart, doing fellowship program at a prestigious university in us, teaching masters students while doing her doctorate. gross… gross…! so i think he must be quite non-mcp to dare to go after the girl. wahaha… and every night they teleconference-talk for 2 hours or more! so i really seldom see this housemate walking around the house la…
that’s all about the 2 guys i’m sharing the apartment with.

today in office, they had something call “happy hour”, which is actually a birthday celebration for employees whose birthdays fall in the month of may.
i met the corporate services general manager there, and he was asking me how i was coping with my work. (pr la!) with him was this man wearing glasses and suit. he was telling this man i was an intern from singapore, and then the man said, “oh, i haven’t met her yet.”
this person’s office is actually in the sales and marketing department (the department i belongs to). i would need to pass by his office whenever i walked over to MW’s workstation, and whenever i passed by, i would glanced around to see who’s who. (kpo me!) so he had actually noticed me walking around.
horrible thing, know what? he is actually the general manager of the sales and marketing department! hiyo, to think he saw me stare into his office once! (hey, you know i’m short-sighted!) i was so embarrassed! and he put out his hand to shake my hand, but my hand was full of juice from the lychees i was eating.
wahaha, is this the ultimate social disgrace? no! i continued my food feast, too embarrassed to talk to the 2 GMs. then suddenly, my GM turned around and started talking to me, asking me how i find the company, etc. i tried to talk, but my mouth was full! hurhur…
wahahaha, 2 lessons here. never eat like a glutton at any social gatherings, even if it’s some small informal office gatherings. and, ALWAYS KNOW who the big bosses are.
